Hauerwas, S. (1988). Suffering presence : theological reflections on medicine, the mentally handicapped and the Church. T.&T. Clark.

Collection of as always thought-provoking essays offering an original perspective on a wide range of areas in medical ethics by distinguished virtue and narrative ethicist.

Hauerwas, S. (1990). Naming the silences : God, medicine, and the problem of suffering. Eerdmans.

Covers wider theological issues of theodicy and offering a stimulating and challenging reflection on suffering, loss and death and how medicine should see its role.

Lammers, S., E. and A. Verhey (1987). On moral medicine : theological perspectives in medical ethics. Eerdmans.

An excellent resource of classic articles and extracts covering all areas of theory and practice. Note updated edition as well.

Lammers, S., E. and A. Verhey (1998). On moral medicine : theological perspectives in medical ethics. Eerdmans.

A revised and updated edition of earlier volume which omits some of the earlier articles but adds much new material.

May, W. E. (2000). Catholic bioethics and the gift of human life. Our Sunday Visitor Pub.

An excellent introduction to traditional Roman Catholic thinking on the issues, introducing papal teaching, explaining key concepts, and discussing variety of important issues

Meilaender, G. C. (1997). Bioethics : a primer for Christians. Paternoster.

Probably the best short (120pp) introduction to whole subject offering a careful theological account of major issues in medical ethics.

Messer, N. (2002). Theological issues in bioethics : an introduction with readings. DLT.

A good collection of classic discussions of issues with helpful commentary highlighting the theological issues and a case study

Ramsey, P. (1970). The patient as person : explorations in medical ethics. Yale University Press.

A classic text, one of the first detailed Christian studies of modern medical ethics.

Verhey, A. (2003). Reading the Bible in the strange world of medicine. Eerdmans.

A readable collection of studies from evangelical ethicist who edited main reader in the field, relating Scripture to questions of suffering, abortion, death etc.

Watts, F. (2000). Christians and bioethics. SPCK.

An edited volume of lectures introducing the issues in six important areas of bioethics by Christian practitioners.  Stronger on information and issues than ethical analysis and possible answers.

Wyatt, J. (1998). Matters of life and death : today's healthcare dilemmas in the light of Christian faith. IVP.

Excellent study from evangelical neonatal paediatrician who has much experience at cutting edge and offers good biblical and theological study of major issues.
