ASSIGNMENTS

In preparation for the examination you have to write 4 internal essays. Details about assignments are available here

READING

In addition to reading for assignments it is good to read at least one or two books from the titles listed in the bibliography, perhaps one single volume ethic (e.g. Hauerwas, Verhey or O'Donovan) and one more textbook approach (e.g Attwood, Grenz, Holmgren, or May).

Good introductory articles are:

  • Professor Nigel Biggar: "Ethics", Blackwell Encyclopedia, pp164-83.
  • Archbishop Rowan Williams' "Making Moral Decisions" in Gill, Cambridge Companion, pp3-15.
  • Professor Oliver O'Donovan's "Christian Moral Reasoning" in the IVP New Dictionary, pp122-7.

PAST EXAMINATION PAPERS

THE MORAL CASE

Although there is no simple way of finding an answer to a moral case - that is the nature of complex moral and pastoral situation and part of the reason this paper is set in the BTh/CTh - some guidance as to how to approach a moral case in an exam is provided here
